Just for kicks, and something to do while changing phase the hard way from last week's night shifts, I put together a wee script to fade my desktop between two colours throughout the day. Have a look on scripts for all you could ever hope to find out.

Oh yeah. I got a new job. In about 4 weeks I'll leave behind the nonsense that is 2nd tier software support, and begin the nonsense that is Unix administration.
Go me!

Managed to score a 21" Sun monitor off a (soon to be ex-) colleague. It is made of huge and Trinitron.
Unfortunately X insists on reading the EDID data from it and thinks the best it can do is 1600x1200 @ 75Hz, so I've had to knock the resolution down to 1400x1050 to get a flicker-free 85Hz.

I've made my first Firefox extension. It's really simple, but it serves my purposes. See Unix for more.

I've put together a small Firefox extension. All it does is add a contextual menu (right-click menu) item, which clears the text in a text field.
Unix users who select - middle-click to copy - paste will probably understand why this is a Good Thing to have.

Download ClearText

Unfortunately, the IIS server this page is on doesn't know what an xpi file is, so it won't auto-install. You'll have to download it and do File->Open File... on it to install the extension.

Update: I wouldn't bother, actually. Someone has done a much better job of this here: Clear Text Fields. Ah well.
